WHEATLEY, Helen Edith (nee Campbell) - May 29, 1920 - Jan. 10, 2008. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Helen, much loved wife of Bruce for 50 years, devoted mother of Julia and her husband Jeff McGibbon and adored grandmother of Helen Kate and Jamie McGibbon. Daughter of the late Donald and Arvilla Campbell, sister of Donald Campbell and his wife Olive of Calgary. Pre-deceased by brother Colin and an infant sister. Devoted aunt to Helen Sharon Campbell, Donna Campbell, Colin and his wife Jan Campbell. Helen will also be sadly missed by her other eight nieces and nephews. Helen was originally from Alberta and continued to maintain strong ties with both family and community while establishing a home and family in Ontario. Helen's individual version of Happy Birthday, ongoing sense of humour, thoughtfulness and strong sense of family endeared her to all who knew her. Helen was a strong supporter of the SPCA and greatly enjoyed her “backyard friends”. Helen was an avid gardener, an enthusiasm shared by Bruce. Helen was a past member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a member of Alexandra Presbyterian Church. As per Helen's request cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service is planned for a later date.
