PROUT, Ethel May (Wood) - Passed away at Riverview Gardens, (Chatham) on Tuesday January 8, 2008. Ethel was born in Harwich Township 90 years ago to her parents Elizabeth (Dowd) and Alan Wood, both predeceased. Surviving are her children Shirley Wright of Ridgetown, Lorna Jean and Don Cowley of Blenheim, Eleanore and Ken Dease of Essex and Harold “Bill“ and Johanna Prout of Merlin. During her lifetime, Ethel was blessed to see the birth of twelve grandchildren, twenty-four grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters Clara Ramsden of Blenheim and Wilma Board of Blenheim. Ethel is predeceased by her husband George “Leslie“ (1964), a sister Maurice Malott and her six brothers Harold, Russell, Arthur, James, Gordon and Alvin. During her active years, Ethel was proud to be a member of our local Ladies of the Moose as well as the Rebekah Lodge. Friends are invited to attend visitation at the funeral home, 60 Stanley Street, Blenheim on Thursday January 10, 2008 from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00- 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service officiated by Elder Murray Malott of Community of Christ Church will be held at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home, on Friday January 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Crawford Cemetery. Friends wishing to honour Ethel with a memorial donation are asked to consider their own charity of choice.
