McLEOD, Ellen Coats (Nee Gray) - The family of Ellen Coats McLeod announce her passing in her 89th year on December 27, 2007, following a brief illness. Ellen is predeceased by her husband, Ronald S. McLeod (December 27, 1993) and is survived by her daughters Jay Sheila (Dave White) and Holly, grandchildren Christopher and Matthew White, Michelle and Kirstyn Seanor (Gordon), brother William Gray, nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law in Canada and U.S. Ellen (Nel) was born in Brantford, Ontario, the youngest of 6 children of Alexander and Ellen Gray (Tom, Archie, Alex, Dave and Bill). She graduated from BCI, was an avid basketball player, and worked as head cashier at Loblaws. Ellen and Ron were married following WWII and move to London, Ontario. They owned and operated United Discount Stores in London, St. Thomas, Tillsonburg, Windsor, Kitchener and Kincardine. In more recent years, Ellen devoted her time to her daughter's family and followed, with enthusiasm, her grandson's school and sports activities in Komoka, Delaware and Mt. Brydges. Following Ellen's wishes, cremation has taken place. A family memorial will be held at a later date in Komoka. In lieu of flowers, a donation to your charity of choice would be appreciated.
