PETER, Lawrence - It is with great sadness that the family of Lawrence Peter announce his sudden passing at his home on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 in his 79th year. Beloved husband of Genevieve (nee Silvestri) for 56 years. Loving father of David Peter, Lorraine Wigmore (Steve) and Janet Peter. Cherished grandfather of Matthew and Evan Wigmore. Loving son-in- law of Natalie Silvestri. Dear brother of Elsie Hircsu, Edna Peter, Ann Newsom (John) and brother-in-law of Irene Peter, Anthony Silvestri (Joy) and Joanne Silvestri. He will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Domokos and Christina Peter, brothers John and Zoli and father-in-law Erminio Silvestri. Lawrence retired in 1985 as Staff Sergeant after 35 years with the Crowland, Welland and Niagara Regional Police Services. He was a member, reader and usher at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, member of Sts. Peter and Paul Seniors and Past President with U.E. Seniors. Lawrence also loved to hunt and garden. The family will receive their friends at J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where a Vigil will be held at 3 o'clock. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Sts Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church on Saturday morning at 11 o'clock. Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Sts.
