REID, Evelyn Imogene (Jean) - Passed away peacefully on Monday December 17th 2007 at the Welland Hospital in her 97th year. She is survived by her son Barry and daughter Nora, sisters Lorna Swick and Arlean Traver and brother Bruce Williams. She will be sadly missed by many nieces & nephews. Predeceased by her husband Bruce Reid, parents Aca and Flossie Williams and sister Doris Sensabaugh. Born in Simcoe, Ontario and raised in Thorold Township and Port Robinson, she and her husband Bruce owned and operated Reid's West Side Grocery on West Main Street in Welland and Reid's Food Store on King Street in Port Colborne for many years. Jean was co-founder and first President of the Port Colborne District Association for Mentally Challenged Children (now Community Living Port Colborne-Wainfleet) and served on the Special Education Committee of the Niagara South School Board and the Niagara District Working Group. Arrangements entrusted to the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne. Private family burial has already taken place.
