KING, Judith (nee Ortenberg). Judy Ortenberg King died Sunday evening, December 16, 2007, at St. Mary's Hospital following a short illness. She was almost ninety-three years old and had had a varied and globe-trotting life. Loving mother of Susan Baxt Croft of Ottawa and David Baxt of London, England; sister of Vita Lehberg and Ben Zion Ortenberg (d. 1923); daughter of Dr. Sam Ortenberg and Mizzi Brainin (d. 1918), and Lisl Brainin; granddaughter of Reuben and Masha Brainin, and David and Chaja Ortenberg. Judy was a multiple graduate of McGill University with a B.Sc. and M.Sc. (Physiology) at a time when few women entered sciences. She later acquired a B.Ed and went on to teach thousands of students at West Hill and Riverdale High School. Judy envisaged a light touch and a celebration of life with no regrets for her send-off, which will take place 1 p.m. Sunday, December 23 at Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 chemin de la Foret, Outremont, Qc 514-279-6540. Friends and acquaintances are invited to share conversations, strong coffee and dark chocolate - some of her favourite things. Special thanks to Yvonne Callaway Smith, Tui Menning Torrie, Avion Hicks and the fabulous staff of Place Kensington. Condolences can be sent by e-mail to ycsmith@videotron.ca Judy believed in helping kids discover their potential. In lieu of flowers, donations to Dans la Rue can be made by phone at 514-526-5222 or on-line at www.danslarue.org Published in the Montreal Gazette from 12/19/2007 - 12/22/2007
