IYER, V.N. (Bob) With great sadness, we announce the death of Bob (V.N.) Iyer, on December 20, 2007. Bob died peacefully with his loving wife, Rajul, by his side. He will be remembered and missed by his children Nitya and Akhil, their spouses, Rob and Maria, and his grandchildren Priya, Kali, Alex, and Owen. Bob was born and raised in India, and emigrated to Canada in 1962. He had a distinguished career as an academic at Carleton University, Ottawa, receiving a life-time teaching award, and the rank of Professor Emeritus. Research was his passion, and he collaborated with students and colleagues all around the world. Bob and Rajul retired to Kelowna in 1996. Bob took his intellectual acumen into different realms, including astronomy and Philosophy. He demonstrated his athleticism at the Kelowna Badminton Club, in golf and yoga. He continued his dedication to community, both global and local, by activities such as travelling to Nicaragua to help build a medical clinic and volunteering in Kelowna with Hospice and the Caring Clowns of the Central Okanagan. Bob enriched the lives of many people through the course of his life with his insight, sensitivity and humour. Those who would like to share their memories of Bob are invited to gather on January 2, 2008, at Benvoulin Church, between 2 and 4 p.m. A gift in living memory of Venkatram will be made to "Holding Hands for Hospice" by Springfield Funeral Home.
