Ken FORD

OBITUARY Ken Ford Ken passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at the age of eighty-six, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Ken was born in Montreal on January 21, 1921 and worked in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry there for over forty years until his retirement in 1989 to Westbank, British Columbia. Ken married Joyce (Pugh) on March 25, 1950, and they raised their four children (Lark, Glenn, Don and Wendy) in Montreal. Ken had a great sense of humour and he loved to play practical jokes on others. Ken enjoyed conversation (or chewing the fat, as he would describe it), and in particular, he loved telling stories of his many adventures and friends in Montreal. With Joyce, he was very active in his retirement in the beautiful Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. Ken was a volunteer for numerous local charities, focusing on helping his fellow senior citizens. Ken was a past president of the Westbank Seniors Association, was active in the Health Network and the local MacDonald's Coffee Club. Ken truly loved life, and we will miss him terribly. Ken is survived by his loving wife Joyce; Two daughters: Lark Ford of Montreal, Wendy Dunn (John) of Calgary; Two sons: Glenn (Kathy) of Whitehorse, Don (Debbie) of Toronto; Seven grandchildren: Christopher, Jennifer, Kenny and Ashley Ford and Katherine, Laura and James Dunn; One sister, Barbara Wilfong (Cecil), and sister-in-law Ona Parsons. Predeceased by his brother Horace. Sincere thanks to Dr. Annette Brower, Dr. Chris Baliski, Nurse Fiona and the staff of 3 West at Kelowna General Hospital. A Memorial Tea was held on December 21 in Westbank. Family and friends will also gather in Calgary on December 28 to celebrate Ken's life.
