Leoneda Olga BUTH

PETRIE, Leoneda Olga (nee Buth) Very peacefully, with her family at her bedside at the Civic Hospital on Saturday afternoon, December 22, 2007, age 96. Loving wife for 67 years of the late Edward Petrie. Leoneda was born in Greenwald, Manitoba; she was the 3rd eldest of 5 children, all of whom predeceased her. She spent most of her life in Winnipeg and moved to Ottawa in July 2006 to live with her only son, Leonard and his wife Shirley. Along with her many relatives, neighbours and friends in Winnipeg and her new found friends in Ottawa, she will be remembered by her grandchildren Valerie (Robin McTaggart), Larry (Barbara Alberton), Marcia (Chris Scott), Ross (Leann) and her great grandchildren Chelsie and Brianne Scott, Rachel and Abbey Petrie and Katie and Michael McTaggart. Predeceased by her great grandchild, Lyle McTaggart. Leoneda had a great love of gardening, both flowers and vegetables. She enjoyed growing most of her own vegetables. She also had a great interest in learning, especially about the foods that would keep one healthy. She was very active until her final day, seen walking daily with her 2 canes in the neighbourhood. She had a strong faith, and during the depression promised God that she would never waste anything again. This could be seen by the well-mended clothing that she chose to wear. Nothing was discarded and everything found a second use. Her strength of character will be an inspiration to all that knew her. A private Memorial Service will be held by the family.
