Mrs. Beryl Daisy Gale (née Rickman) November 12, 1910 - January 1, 2008 Funeral arrangements by Sands Funeral Chapel (Colwood) GALE, BERYL DAISY, November 12th 1910-January 1, 2008 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Beryl, our dear Mother, Gramma, Great-Gramma, and Great-Great-Gramma, who passed away peacefully in her 97th year, at the Priory. Beryl was predeceased by her first husband William Mawle in 1965; her second husband Frank Gale in 1989; her son John Raymond Mawle in 2001 and her grandson, Glenn Bullen in 1988. Also her sister, Hilda Comer, and Brothers Art, Ken and Ross Rickman. Beryl is survived by brother George Rickman (Ev), sisters Dorothy Hinchcliff , Betty Dewhurst (Don) and sister-in-law Clarice Somerville (Terry). Survived by a large loving family: her children, Bob Mawle (Phyllis) Quesnel, Rose Lowe (Tom) Keremeos, Richard Mawle ( Margaret), Metchosin, Frank Gale (Chris) Colwood and stepson Rich Gale (Donna) Victoria. Her grandchildren, Cindy James (Mark), Lianna Jeffreys (Paul), Bobby Bullen (Marilyn), Valerie Willman (Rob), Lynn Evans (Ron), John Bullen(Jennifer), Andrew Gale (Laura), Deanna Gale, Alisa Mawle (Scott), Jason Mawle (Trina), and Curtis Gale(Carmen) Great Grandchildren, Stacey Hull, Cory Willman (Jeannie), Melissa Willman (Todd), Tyler St. Louis(Katie), Michael Bullen, Alannah Weinhandl. Tanya Evans, (Chris) Kristina Koch (Chad), Matthew Evans (Audrey) Andrew Evans. Hannah and, Jayden Mawle. Great,-Great Grandchildren, Larissa and Kasia Evans, Ryan Koch, Andrea and Tanaya St. Louis, Alliya Lawrence, Also many nieces, nephews and a large extended family. While raising her own children Mum took in Foster Children in the 30's, 40's, and 50's, she loved all of them as if they were her own. Beryl was born in Brentford, South West London, England to William and Daisy Rickman. She came to Victoria as a small baby with her parents in 1911. Mum & Frank owned and operated the Donegal Motel Old Island Hwy in the 60's and 70's before settling in their lovely home in Colwood. Mum lived a happy, long life, was a wonderful loving wife and mother. She enjoyed working in her large garden at her home of 30 years until age 90. Mum loved to knit, crochet and spent many hours creating baby toques, teddy bears, warm slippers and sweaters for many to enjoy. She loved her family around her and made everyone welcome. Mum will be missed by so many whose lives she touched. We wish to extend our grateful appreciation for the wonderful care received by the staff at the Priory, Hiscock Building, in Langford. Funeral Service will be held at Sands Colwood 317 Goldstream Ave on Wednesday January 9, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow Burial at Hatley Memorial Gardens.
