FUDGE, GEORGE ROBERT - The death of George Robert Fudge of Rothesay, husband of Marguerite B. (Wright) Fudge, occurred on Sunday, December 23, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born at Pushthrough, Newfoundland, on September 18, 1922, he was a son of the late Benjamin Robert and Julia Elizabeth (Bishop) Fudge. George was employed for several years with the City of Saint John, retiring in 1987 as Superintendent of the carpenter shop. He was an accomplished furniture and cabinet maker, and also had built boats in his spare time. A charter member of Crescent Valley Gospel Centre, George actively served the Lord in the capacity of Board Member and Treasurer for several years. In addition to his wife, George is survived by his children, Vera Hudson (Edward) of Saint John, Robert L. Fudge of Moncton, Frank D. Fudge of Rothesay, David W. Fudge (Nancy) of Saint John, and John A. Fudge (Janet) of Damascus; 11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his first wife, Jean; brothers, Phillip and James; and by sisters, Sara Matchem and Ethel Howse. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, on Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM from the Crescent Valley Gospel Centre. Interment will be at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery. Silk flowers only, please.
