WEIR, Daisy (nee, Sharpe) - of Welland, at the Welland County General Hospital on Tuesday, January 1, 2008 in her 87th year. Beloved wife of the late Lawrence Weir (1973). Loving mother of Donald Weir (Yvonne) of Sturgeon Falls, the late Marilyn Weir (1962) and Garry Weir (Charlene) of Yarmouth, NS. Loved grandmother of Janet Young, Greg Young & family, Melissa Weir, Jamie Weir, Katelyn, Michael & Philip and great-grandmother of Savannah. Dear sister of Percy Sharpe (Annie) of Welland. Dear Aunt of Del Fraipont (Diane), Rick Fraipont (Gail), Bob Sharpe (Sharon), Barry Sharpe (Patty), Linda Sharpe-Peitras (Frank), Kimberly Topolinsky (Dwight) and many other nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Percival and Cecilia Sharpe, sisters Emily Scott (Edward), Josephine Fraipont (Les), Ocie Weir (Carl) and Annie Ogren (Ray) and brother Stan Sharpe (Flo). Born in Dubuc, Saskatchewan, Mrs. Weir came to Welland in 1951. She was member of Central United Church and served her country in the Canadian Army from 1941 to 1944. Friends are invited to visit the family at the H.L. CUDNEY FUNERAL HOME, 241 West Main Street, Welland, on Saturday, January 5, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the Cudney chapel conducted by Rev. Dr. Gordon Crossfield of Central United Church. Cremation will follow. Interment of cremated remains in Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date.
