BARTOK - Leslie Thomas (Laci), after an unbeatable battle with pancreatic cancer, died at the N.H.S. Welland Site on Tuesday, January 1, 2008 in his 59th year. He was born June 17, 1949 in Welland and graduated from Notre Dame College School; St. Michael's College, University of Toronto (General Arts); Royal Conservatory of Music (Harmony, History, Counterpoint, Piano); Niagara College (Business Accounting Division); and Brock University (Classics). He is survived by his 2 sisters, Mary Bartok and Matilda Holody; his niece Louise Bartok (Art Beceval); his brother-in- law Ed Holody; sister-in-law Barbara Bartok; his nephew Jim Holody (Sydney); great niece Teresa Grover; great nephew Martin Grover; and great nephew Robert Holody. He will also be sadly missed by his friends Patricia, Robert, Lettie, Angelo, Krystyna, John, Margaret and Ted. He was predeceased by his parents Alex and Isobel, brother Alex Bartok, sister Esther Bartok, niece Sharon Grover and nephew Al Bartok. He had a talent for higher mathematics, loved to play the piano, particularly classical and Hungarian music; and was fascinated by the reading and study of history. Cremation has taken place. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Hungary Roman Catholic Church (Corner of Park Street & Hellems Avenue) on Tuesday January 8, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Rite of Committal to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
