Catherine Christie January 09, 1931 - April 16, 2004 Cathie passed away peacefully on Friday, April 16, 2004 at the Grace Hospital with family at her side. Cathie was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England on January 9, 1931, the eldest daughter of Jack and Ann Christie. Her chosen vocation was nursing which she practiced in different parts of England and Scotland. In 1975 Cathie immigrated to Winnipeg and continued her career, first at the Health Sciences Centre, then as Head of Nursing for the Concordia Hospital, a position she held until her retirement. Her mother joined Cathie in Winnipeg and they shared a home until Ann’s passing in 1995. Cathie was also predeceased by her beloved sisters Anne and Joan. She is survived by her nephews: Stephen in the USA, Robert (Patty) and Michael (Julie) in Canada and John (Jenny) and Leslie (Joanne) in England and all their children. She is also survived by cousins Alison and Jillian in Winnipeg. Through her nursing, her church and her community Cathie made many good friends. She will be missed. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 24 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Brebeuf Church, 1707 John Brebeuf Place, followed by interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
