HAYES, Jean Isabell (nee Matthews) Retired member of the Ontario Public Service (OHIP) It is with great sadness that her family informs you of her passing, on January 5, 2008 in Ottawa at the age of 83. Born in Toronto in 1924 to the late Ernest and Sadie Matthews. Jean was married to Cecil Hayes February 15, 1946. They began married life in Cape Chin then moved to Toronto in 1953. Cecil passed away after a courageous battle with cancer February 27th 1978. Loving Mother to Helen Hayes (Phil Acker) of Ottawa. Adoring Nan to Jami Bongard (Randy) and Amber Turcott of Ottawa. Survived by Sisters-In-Law Marie Matthews of California, Sarah Hayes of Lions Head, Dorothy MacDonald (George) of Wiarton , Marilyn Stewart (Don) of Wiarton, Hazel Milne (Pete) of Pickering, Shirley Adams (Larry) of Lions Head and Brothers- In-Law Alf Meyer and Murdoch McArthur. Pre-deceased by infant son Joseph Hayes, Sister Helen Matthews and Brothers Charles, Henry, Fred and Neil Matthews. Sisters & Brothers-In-Law Alfred Hayes, Vera & Selby Forbes, Hilda McArthur, Freda Meyer and Milton Hayes. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Jean has now found peace that has been denied to her these past few years from the debilitating disease of Alzheimer. A special Thank you to Kelly, Lorraine and Sara of St. Elizabeth's for taking care of Jean the past few years and making her life more comfortable. Visitation will be held at the Davidson, Chapel, 71 Main Street, Lion's Head on Saturday, January 12, 2008 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with the service immediately following at 2:00 p.m. Interment at Eastnor Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton. In Jean's memory, any donations will be appreciated, and can be made to the Alzheimer Society, the Lymphoma Foundation or the charity of your choice.
