OBITUARY GERVAIS "PIE" LASCELLE Passed away peacefully at the age of seventy-three at the Lakeshore General Hospital on Monday, January 14, 2008. He will be most sadly missed by his beloved wife of fifty years, Hazel (Smith) and by his children Nicole (Frank Hornig), David and Claudine (Joseph Trepanier). Pie was also the very proud poppy of his four grandchildren Alana, Lauren, Kaelan and Logan. He is survived by his sister Beverly Beauregard of Cornwall, Ontario and predeceased by his parents Beulah and David Lascelle, his sisters Laurette Caya and Vivian Desrosiers as well as brothers Douglas, Wayne and Gerald Lascelle. Pie moved from Cornwall to Pointe-Claire with his wife Hazel in 1961 and worked for Proctor & Gamble for seventeen years. Truly an entrepreneur at heart, he left P & G to develop the Pointe-Claire Credit Union which, alongside Hazel, he built into a successful and thriving financial institution, turning it over to the Federation des Caisses Desjardins du Quebec upon his retirement at age fifty-five. A long-standing member and past president of the Pointe-Claire Oldtimers, Pie was an avid hockey fan and respected coach. A talented and fearless goaltender for the Oldtimers, Pie also played junior and semi-pro hockey in Cornwall. He was fortunate to have many good friends and was socially active until his illness hospitalized him one final time. He always enjoyed spending time at the Bob Birnie Arena with the Oldtimers, especially during Tournament week, well as sipping Diet Coke with a few good pals at the Hymus. The family will receive condolences at Rideau Funeral Home, 4275 boulevard des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux on Wednesday, January 16 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 17 at 11 a.m. at St. John Fisher Church, 120 Summerhill, Pointe Claire. Heartfelt thanks go out to the nursing staff in Emergency, CCU and 4-West at the Lakeshore General Hospital for their kindness and compassion.
