MACDONALD, Jean Isabel 1938-2008 Jean Isabel Macdonald of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, passed away suddenly at the Portage District General Hospital on Saturday, January 12, 2008, at the age of 69 years. Jean is survived by her daughter, Jennie Macdonald and five grandchildren, Chad, Paige, Nicholas, Christian and Brennan; two sisters, Katherine Macdonald of White Rock, B.C., and Johanna Williamson of The Pas, MB; her special nephews and niece, John (France) of Montreal, QC, Donald (Joanne) of Vancouver, B.C., Sara (Frank) of Calgary, AB, Roddy (Sharon) of Shaunavon, SK, Jim of Castlegar, B.C., and their families, and many special friends and relatives. Jean was born in Charlottetown, P.E.I. She received her early education there, and earned a degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax and University of Manitoba. Her career took her from coast to coast as well as Northern Manitoba and the Yukon. At the time of her death she was employed with the Portage School Division as an education assistant. She had also started her special project, Home Reading Program. Working in the classroom with young children was a very special joy to Jean. She was blessed by the friendship and support she received from her friends at work, church and her present job at school. A celebration of Jean's life will be held Saturday, January 19, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Church. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Jean's memory to a charity of choice.
