O'BRIEN, MARY EILEEN - The death of Mary Eileen O'Brien (nee McBride) of Fredericton, formerly of Titusville, occurred January 15, 2008 at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. She was born on August 28, 1924 at Hanford Brook, NB and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa (McDermott) McBride. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Maurice O'Brien. Mary and Maurice were residents of Titusville where they raised their three sons, Vincent O'Brien (Dora) of Smithtown, Gregory O'Brien (Leslie) of Hampton, and Dale O'Brien (Linda) of Fredericton. Mary's door was always open to visitors, welcoming them with a cup of tea and sweets to eat. Besides her sons, she is survived by eight grandchildren, Gail Merrick (Joe), Leduc, Alberta, Dana Cormier, Smithtown, Sarah Ramia (Tony), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Megan O'Brien Harrison (David), Titusville, Lerrin O'Brien, Fredericton, Ryan O'Brien, Hampton, Nicholas O'Brien, Fredericton, Patrick O'Brien, Edmonton, Alberta; eight great grandchildren, Selina and Faron Merrick, Katherine and Vincent Cormier, Lillian and Antoine Ramia, Meredith and Ella Harrison, one sister, Margaret Sherwood, Hampton; one brother, Edward McBride (Regina), Hampton; one sister-in-law, Jane O'Brien, Nauwigewauk; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas and William McBride. Resting at Reid's Funeral Home, 1063 Main Street, Hampton, with visitation Thursday, 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Vigil prayers will take place Thursday, 7:00pm, at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Alphonsus Church, Hampton, on Friday at 10:00am. Interment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Hampton, in the spring. Memorials to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
