MAHER, HAROLD JOHN June 8th, 1939 - Jan 9th, 2008 Harold Maher of Sherwood Park, Alberta, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 68 Harold was born in Saint John, New Brunswick to Harold and Madeline Sarah (nee Comeau). Harold is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Jeanette (nee Cote); children, Michael (Cindy), Christine Legiehn (Tim Wiens), Bruce (Hae-Jin), and Gary (Kim) Reed; Grandchildren, Logan, Brandi, James, Samantha, Brenden, Siovhan, Josun and Gina; as well as two great-grandsons, Noah and Owen. He is also survived by sisters, Phyllis Donkin, June (Jimmy) Dobson, and Gloria Baird; two brothers, Bobby and Gary (Debbie), as well as many brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is predeceased by his parents; brothers, Harry Comeau, Basil and Burt; sisters, Stenna; and brother-in-law Jack Donkin. Harold will be remembered as "Brother Maher". Harold attended St. John the Baptist school and church. In Harold's younger days, he worked at the Strand and Kent theaters. Harold also served in the Merchant Marines. In 1962, Harold left Saint John to join the regular forces, R.C.H.A. . After leaving the army in 1973, Harold became head of security for K-Mart stores in Winnipeg. Upon retirement, due to illness, he was head of security for all Army/Navy department stores. Harold was cremated January 12th, 2008 at Glenwood Funeral Home in Alberta, where his ashes will remain until Spring/Summer, when they will then be brought to Saint John to be spread over the Bay of Fundy, as Harold's last wish. A celebration of Harold's life was held on Monday, January 14th, 2008, at Glenwood Funeral Home, south of Wye Road, on Range Road 232 in Sherwood Park, Alberta. Brother will be missed dearly by his family and friends here in Saint John. January 17, 2008
