McCOY, Lillian “Alberta“ - Passed away at Hastings Manor, Belleville on Saturday January 19, 2008 in her 106th year. Alberta was the daughter of the late Alex and Annie (Ida) McCoy. She was born Feb. 20, 1902 in Remington where she grew up with her brothers, William, Herbert, and Earl, and her Sister Myrtle. In 1926, Alberta entered the “School of Nursing“ at Ottawa Civic Hospital, graduating as an R.N. in 1929. She nursed for a short time but chose to return home to care for her ailing parents. She remained on the farm where she worked hard but took time out to enjoy her flower gardens. During the 1980's, Alberta and her two brothers purchased a new home and moved to Corbyville. When her brothers passed away, ill health forced her to move to Hastings Manor, Belleville. Alberta was a dedicated member of Madoc Chapter O. E. S. and served as Worthy Matron in 1973-74, the Emerald Year. Worthy Grand Matron at that time was Edna Dobbs, Belleville and Grand Marshall was Marjorie Morgan, Brighton. The Funeral Service was held at the BELLEVILLE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL on January 21, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Bob Matheson officiating. Spring interment Cooper Cemetery.
