Burton Joseph Smith October 23, 1919 - April 30, 2004 SMITH, Burton Joseph - 84, Noel, died April 30, 2004, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born on McNabs Island, he was a son of the late Percy P. and Rita M. (Flemming) Smith. Burton served overseas with the RCASC from 1943-1946. He enjoyed "puttering" around the home and was a true "Mr. Fix-it". Known for his sense of humor, he will sadly missed by family and friends. Surviving are his daughters, Dianne (James) Whalen, Spryfield; Delores (Bill) Strum, Sackville; son, David (Lorna) Smith, Noel; brother, Douglas (Florence) Smith, Kamloops, B.C.; sisters, Edith (Pat) Flemming, Lully (Bernard) McQuarrie, both of Herring Cove; Myie (Frank) Forbes, Halifax; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Doris Isabella MacLeod; brothers, Gordon, Charles, George, Art, Roy, and Alfred. Family flowers only. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church. Burial in Oakridge Memory Gardens. A reception will follow the burial in the family home. Donations to Parkinson's Society of Canada, Maritime Region.
