Barbara Jean Hachey Barbara Jean Hachey, age 64, of Amherst passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2008 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan, NS, with her loving family by her side. Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Seymour and Alberta (Polley) Thompson. Barb joined the staff of the Department of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada in 1973 where she held the position of Human Resources Specialist as well as assignments in other programs within the Amherst office. She was active in the community working as a volunteer for the Progressive Conservative Party as well as the Cumberland County Museum. Barb is survived by her sons, Kevin of Brampton, ON and Jonathan of Amherst; one grandson, Kevin James of Halifax; brothers, Douglas (Goldie) Thompson of Amherst, Cecil (Peggy) Thompson of Smith Falls, ON and Garry (Dianne) Thompson of Cole Harbour, NS; sisters, Betty (Allan) Orr of Upper Sackville, NS, Shirley Goodwin of Burlington, ON; and many nieces and nephews. Barb was predeceased by her husband, Fred; one sister, Doreen Meisnerand; one brother, Ronnie. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, N.S. (902-667-9906). A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Campbell's Chapel with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Donations in Barb's memory may be made to the Palliative Care unit of Cumberland Regional Health Care Center or the Cumberland County Museum. www.campbells-amherst.ca January 21, 2008
