HIMMEL, Helen Rose - Of the city of Toronto, passed away peacefully in her sleep after several years of poor health on January 17th, 2008. Helen was the daughter of the late Meyer and Anna Himmel. She was predeceased by her brother Albert Himell and sisters Edith Somer and Frances Himmel. She is survived by her nephews Arnold Somers, Michael Somer, Brian Somer, Myron Himell, and Sheldon Himell. Born September 28th, 1914 in Toronto, Helen spent her youth in Orangeville, Ontario, graduating from Orangeville High School. She subsequently received her R.N. in Hammond, Indiana and worked as a nurse in New York, Miami, and Toronto. Helen served as a Registered Nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital for many years as a private duty nurse and was much appreciated by her patients for her devoted and capable care. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 18th at 12:00 pm in the Beth Jacob Cemetery in Kitchener. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
