GIENE, Anna, passed away August 13, 2007 at the age of 81 years. Anna was born December 17, 1925. She grew up and attended school in Goodeve, SK. With the outbreak of WWII, she joined the Navy, serving as a W.R.E.N. messenger stationed in Eastern Canada. It was there that she met and married Dan Giene, originally of the Kayville area. They returned to Saskatchewan, eventually settling in the Crane Valley area. Working side by side, they built a thriving mixed farm. Anna and Dan were able to enjoy the fruits of their labours, enjoying life and travelling extensively until Dan's death in 1986. Anna and her son Darcy continued to operate the farm, eventually setting it up at present as a rental interest. Anna Baba was predeceased by her husband Dan; her parents Nick and Theodosia Bokatch; brothers Nick, George, Sam, Joe, John, Andy, Pete, Bill and Steve; and sisters Mary and Sophie. She leaves to celebrate her life, son Brian and his partner Kathy Stephens of Coquitlam, BC, Brian's son Mathew and daughter Amanda; Darcy and Kathy Giene of Prince George, BC, and their daughters Summer (Ante) Circo, Melody and Lacee, and sons Waylon and Noah all of Prince George, Curt and Cathy Giene of Lloydminster, AB and their children Chelsey, Cole, Carly, and Cayley; daughter Sally Novakowski and her partner Keith Anderson, and daughters Amber and Brandy ~ all of Calgary, AB; one greatgrandchild, Audrey Circo; numerous nieces, nephews, and foster sons Elton McBain Chico, Don Marion, Phil Perlette, as well as 23 years worth of short term rescues; scores of good friends, bowling buddies, card playing and casino cronies. A Service of Remembrance will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Friday August 17, 2007 at 11:00 am. Reverend Frank Mitchell will officiate. Memorialization will take place at a later date. Visitation for family and friends Thursday evening 7 9 pm at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Sask. Heart and Stroke Foundation, 2360 2nd Ave., Regina, S4R 1A6, would be appreciated. In living memory of Anna, a tree will be planted by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
