GUSA, Thelma - On September 1st 2007, Thelma Gusa, age 93, passed away at the Sturgeon Community Hospital, St. Albert, Alta. as a result of an unexpected accident in her home. Born September 11th, 1913, in Woodrow, Saskatchewan she was the second child of 7 born to Christopher and Rene Little. Thelma attended primary-school and high-school in the Woodrow area and graduated from Moose Jaw Business College in 1934. In June, 1936 she married Roy Elmer Gusa in Zion United Church, Moose Jaw, Sask. and they were blessed with two sons Wayne and Roger. Thelma was a member of Zion United Church, taught Sunday School, belonged to the Zion Ladies Auxiliary, was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Lodge, Moose Jaw Library and the Square Dance Club. She was an avid reader of history and biographies and her hobbies included knitting, sewing, petite point pictures, bridge and cribbage. In 1966, they moved to Regina so Roy would be closer to his work. They were dedicated fans of the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Her beloved husband passed away on April 9 1991. Thelma moved to Spruce Grove in 2002 to be nearer to her family there. Relocated to River Ridge Senior's Community Center in St. Albert, AB to take advantage of the comprehensive services offered in a senior's community environment. There she met many new friends and was an active member of the River Ridge community and she actively participated in the many and varied social programs provided there. She was predeceased by her parents, and sisters: Ella, Blanch, Madge, and Patricia. Thelma is survived by her two sons Wayne (Linda) of North Vancouver BC and Roger (Marilyn) of Spruce Grove AB, three grand children James of North Vancouver, B.C., J.R. and Thomas of Edmonton, Alta., She is also survived by her sister Dallas Pratte of Surrey B.C. and brother Bruce Little, of Balgonie Saskatchewan, along with numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 14, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in Zion United Church, 423 Main North, Moose Jaw, SK. with Rev. Grace Armstrong officiating. Flowers are respectfully declined. The family asks that donations be made in Thelma's name to the Sturgeon Community Hospital Foundation (Unit 17 201 Bourdreau Road, St. Albert, AB T8N 6C4). Interment of the ashes will follow in Rosedale Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to PicheHawkins-Grondin Funeral Chapels, Gravelbourg, Sk.
