LINKLATER, Dorothy, born June 5, 1924, passed away peacefully with family by her side on August 14, 2007 at the Regina General Hospital. Dorothy was born in Saskatoon and raised in the Zealandia/ Sovereign area. Following advanced education at Saskatoon Normal School and Luther College in Regina, she taught in a one-room school in Coleville. Dorothy married Bill Linklater in 1946 and raised three children on their farm near Sovereign. She was an active member of the community and taught Sunday School, led CGIT groups and was a member of the UCW and WMS. After leaving the farm and having many adventures in BC, they returned to Milden, where Dorothy became administrator for the town and hospital. Bill passed away in 1980, and Dorothy moved to Saskatoon following her retirement in 1988. There, she contributed many volunteer hours to CNIB, the Salvation Army, Lioness Club, Oliver Lodge, St. Andrew's College and the UCW. Dorothy was an active member of three United Churches: Sovereign, Milden and Meewasin. When it was Dorothy's turn to be cared for, she moved to Regina Beach to be close to her son and family. She loved being "back on the farm" at Two Spirit Country Care Home. She also had a short stay at Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home. The family extends sincere appreciation to her dedicated caregivers as well as Dr. Scott, the ER and 6F staff. Dorothy's life was abundant with family, friends, storytelling, laughter, brisk walks and music. She was predeceased by her dear husband Bill in 1980; son Charlie Robin in 1953; sister Bea Head in 2001; parents Thomas & Bethesda `Toots' (nee Freethy) McDonald and fatherin-law and mother-in-law Jim & Eva Linklater.
