Amelia MAIER

Amelia McGillivray (née Maier) McGILLIVRAY – AMELIA “EMMA”, nee (Maier) of Regina, formerly of Pense, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at the age of 82. Predeceased by her husband Hugh, two sisters and a brother. Left to cherish Emma’s memory is her sister, Edie Maier (Trixie); her daughter, Susan (Taffy); son, Richard and his wife Patty; granddaughter; Laura-Lee; and great-granddaughter, Melinda; one sister-in-law, Kathleen Meyers (nee McGillivray); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Emma was born in Markinch, SK and lived in many small Saskatchewan communities until she moved to Regina where she met Hugh. They married on June 3, 1949. Emma was a true farmer, working along side Hugh. She was also a superb cook, seamstress and gardener. Emma was active in her community, especially in the U.C.W. She was generous in every way and her home was always open. Although Emma never had the opportunity to physically travel, she traveled the world in books and television documentaries. Her love of reading extended to a wide variety of topics, including romance novels, science, technology and always the National Geographic. Emma loved people and enjoyed conversations with everyone she met. She was a breast cancer survivor, and a true animal lover. She was also a dedicated Blue Jay fan and followed their games closely. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at the Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, on Friday, May 14, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. with Mary Beth Nicks Barbour officiating.
