ARMSTRONG, Ruth - Passed away at Grey Bruce Health Services - Markdale, on Saturday February 2, 2008, Margaret Ruth Armstrong of Markdale, in her 87th year. Beloved wife of the late Lloyd Armstrong. Dear mother of Dayle Hendry (Ron) of Bolton, Tim of Guelph, Terry Fraser (Harvey) of Markdale and William (Manya Rouben) of Toronto. Loving grandmother of Janice Duncan of Markdale, Steven Duncan of Georgetown, Christine Butler (Shawn) of London, Richard Fraser (Shannon McNaughton) of Toronto and Ryan Armstrong of Mississauga. Survived by sister Mary Round of London and sister-in- law Phyllis Armstrong of Orangeville. Sadly missed by her nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Predeceased by brothers William, Mac and sister Jean. The family received friends at the MAY FUNERAL HOME, Markdale on Tuesday afternoon and evening. Rev. Mark Waugh officiated at a funeral service held at Annesley United Church, Markdale on Wednesday, February 6th at 1:30 pm. Music, under the direction of David Fries, included congregational hymns 'Faith of Our Fathers', 'Make Me A Channel of Your Peace' and the closing hymn 'Jesus, You Have Come To the Lakeshore'. The Annesley choir sang the hymn 'Softly and Tenderly' with nephew Bruce Armstrong providing a solo verse of this beautiful hymn. Ruth's son William and her grandson Richard gave eulogies and shared remembrances. Granddaughter Christine provided scripture readings. Richard Fraser, Steven Duncan, Ryan Armstrong, Shawn Butler, David Armstrong and Rick Gierula served as pall bearers. Janice Duncan, Christine Butler and Shannon McNaughton carried floral tributes. An interment service was held in Markdale Cemetery. Following the service friends joined the family at Annesley fellowship hall for refeshments courtesy of the Annesley Women's Ministry Network. Memorial donations were directed to Annesley United Church, Centre Grey Health Services Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. 10985976
