WYLIE, John “Jack“ - In loving memory of John “Jack“ Wylie, 83 years, who passed away Friday morning, February 1st, 2008 at Extendicare Falconbridge. Beloved husband of Kay (McDonald) Wylie predeceased 1996. Loving father of Russell predeceased 1998, Sharon Shilliday (Joe) of Surrey, B.C., Robert (Monica) and Donna both of Sudbury. Missed by his daughter-in-law Anne Wylie of Niagara Falls. Cherished grandfather of Jason Lunin (Mary), Joe Shilliday (Erin), Michael Wylie, James Shilliday (Kristian), Molly Shilliday, Ian Wylie and Samantha Wylie (James Perry) and great-grandchildren Olivia Lunin, Christian Wylie, Alexis Perry and Callan Shilliday. Dear brother of Grace MacDonald and Donald Wylie both of Sudbury and late Vera, Arnold, Doris and Mac. Missed by his sisters-in-law Marie Keating and Ada Wylie. Predeceased by his parents Russell and Matilda Wylie. Born in 1924 in the CPR station at Burwash, Ontario. Attended school at the Sudbury Mining and Technical School and following the war, continued his education at both Queen's and Laurentian University. He served as a Flying Officer in the role of Navigator with RCAF Lions Squadron 427. He belonged to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 76 for 62 years and also a member of the Sudbury Garrison Old Guard. He retired as a Mining Engineer from the Frood-Stobie Complex having also worked at the Garson, Creighton and Coleman mines. Following his retirement, he worked as an underground tour guide at INCO and through Science North, he designed projects for the Big Nickel Mine. Jack was a tireless volunteer for the Legion, Science North, the Arthritis Society and the Neighbourhood Watch. He had many talents from designing house plans to building his camp. Jack spent many happy years making wonderful memories with his family at their camp on Trout Lake. He liked to garden and enjoyed his walks with his canine pals. Funeral Service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, JACKSON AND BARNARD FUNERAL HOME, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury, Sunday, February 3rd, 2008 at 2 p.m. A memorial service will be held under the auspices of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 76 on Saturday, February 2nd, at 7:30 p.m. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Dialysis Unit-Laurentian Site would be appreciated. (Friends may call 2-5 & 7-9 p.m. Saturday and after 1 p.m. Sunday).
