ARCAND, Léo - (1928 – 2008). The family announces with sorrow his accidental death in Sturgeon Falls, Sunday, February 10, 2008 at the age of 79 years. Son of the late Edgar and of the late Ida (née Spooner) Arcand. Beloved husband of Germaine (née Séguin) Arcand of Sturgeon Falls. Cherished father of Lise Arcand (Ken Goulais), Lucie Michaud (Denis) and Denis Arcand all of Sturgeon Falls. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Anne, Robyn, Kenny, Michelle, Valérie, Randy and Braden and by his four great-grandchildren, Emma, Ashli, Drew and Mason. Dear brother of Lola Galipeau (Armand) of Sturgeon Falls and Rhéal Arcand (Rachelle) of North Bay. Predeceased by his brothers, Gérard (Noella of Sturgeon Falls), Gilbert Arcand and by his sisters, Laurette Empie (late Boyd), Rollande Lefebvre (late Roger) and Olivine Arcand. An avid outdoorsman, Léo will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. A retired hoisting engineer and machine operator, Léo created and designed the “Grandfather Blasting Matts” for the A1 Blasting Matt Company. The family will receive friends in Sacré Coeur Church, Sturgeon Falls, Saturday, February 16, 2008 after 10 am. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 am. Epoux bien- aimé de Germaine (née Séguin) Arcand de Sturgeon Falls. Cher père de Lise Arcand (Ken Goulais), Lucie Michaud (Denis) et Denis Arcand tous de Sturgeon Falls. Son souvenir restera gravé dans la mémoire de ses petits-enfants, Anne, Robyn, Kenny, Michelle, Valérie, Randy et Braden et ses arrière-petits-enfants, Emma, Ashli, Drew et Mason. Lui survivent sa soeur, Lola Galipeau (Armand) de Sturgeon Falls et son frère Rhéal Arcand (Rachelle) de North Bay. Prédécédé par ses frères, Gérard (Noella de Sturgeon Falls), Gilbert Arcand ainsi que par ses soeurs, Laurette Empie (feu Boyd), Rollande Lefebvre (feu Roger) et Olivine Arcand. Un homme tender et affecteux, Léo profitait de chaque instant pour être entouré de son épouse, ses enfants, ses petits- enfants et ses arrière-petits-enfants. Il aimait également le plein air. Un ingénieur à la retraite, Léo a crée et inventé une pièce d'équipement industrielle surnommée le “Grandfather Blasting Matts” pour la compagnie, A1 Blasting Matts. La famille recevra parents et amis à l'Église Sacré Coeur, Sturgeon Falls, le samedi 16 février après 10 h. La messe funéraire sera célébrée à 11 h.
