MAY, Vernon Gerald - Went to be the Lord on Saturday February 2nd, 2008 at the Belleville General Hospital. Vernon May, of Belleville, in his 95th year. Son of the late Charles and Viola (nee Benway). Predeceased by his beloved wife Pearl Jean May. Survived by his brother Ivan May of Belleville, and by his sister-in-law Agatha May of the Fairmount Home in Kingston. Predeceased by his sisters Irma Jones, Irene Dyck, Vivian Ethier, and by brothers Bernard, Orville, Leonard and Infant Ronnie May. Vernon will be sadly missed by his friends and by his many nieces, nephews and their families; Larry May, Donna Gerow, Ken Dyck, Richard Jones, Jack Dyck, Wes May, Jackie Ethier, Gary May, Cathy Brown, Barbara Kizer, Lois Bellas, Dorothy May, Marilyn May, Luana Culmer, William May, and a very dear friend of the family, Peggy Potts. Vernon served with the R.C.A.F. during WWII, between 1940 and 1945. For many years he had his own watch repair business, on the west coast of Canada and was a certified member of the Canadian Jeweler's Institute (Watchmakers Division), returning to Belleville following retirement, to reunite with his family. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr William Bates, and to the nurses and staff of the W,C.A.-3 Extended Care at the Belleville General Hospital. Arrangements in the care of the JOHN R. (613-968-5588) Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service, in the chapel, on Wednesday February 6th, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to service (from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.). Reverend Bob Matheson officiating. Following cremation, an interment will take place in the spring, at Belleville Cemetery. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
