BECKETT, Gloria Jessie - Long time Mattawa resident Gloria Beckett died at the Mattawa General Hospital on Sunday February 3, 2008 at the age of 71 years. Gloria was the proud and loving mother of Kevin (Candace Grenier) and the dear Nan to Chris & Adrian. She passed away one day before the birth of her granddaughter Faith. She will also be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her close friend Jim Cotnam. Predeceased by her parents Alex and Edith Beckett and sister Shirley Gilbeault, Gloria is also survived by her brothers Robert (Evelyn) of Bonfield, Orville (Doreen) of Calvin, and Glen (Karole) of Ottawa. Her canine buddy Caley & feline friend Julie also predeceased her. First and foremost a mother and grandmother Gloria was also a dedicated and faithful member of St. Alban's Anglican Church, always ready to share her time & talents. She will be remembered as an avid scrabble player and baker. Her working life was spent in the insurance industry were she worked as a broker for many years, retiring in 2000. Friends may call at St. Alban's Church, Mattawa, on Wednesday afternoon & evening 1 - 3 & 7 - 9 pm. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held in St. Alban's on Thursday morning, February 7th at 11:00 am. Spring interment in the Calvin Township Cemetery.
