WOOD, Verna Leah - With her daughters by her side, Verna Leah Wood (nee Simington) passed away at the BGH on Saturday, February 9, 2008, 2 days before her 93rd birthday. Beloved wife for 38 years of the late John Clifford Wood, (veteran of the Second World War). Much loved mother of Charmane Croley and her husband the late Len Croley, Brantford, Wanda Cole and her husband Hal, Brantford and Paul and his wife Debbie of Nobel, Ont. Much loved grandmother of Lisa Wood and her fiancée Stuart Malcolm of Edinburgh, Scotland, Travis Wood of Nobel and MacKenzie Cole of Winnipeg. Also missed by Charmane's friend, Ken Black. Dear sister of the late Gerald Simington who was killed in action in the Second World War. Verna was a longtime active member of Knox Presbyterian Church, a Past Matron of the Halo Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a past president of the Briarwood Seniors. The family will receive friends at MCCLEISTER FUNERAL HOME, 495 Park Rd. N. on Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Rev. Donald Young. A reception in the Hospitality Suite will follow immediately. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. If wished, memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Knox Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or your favourite charity would be gratefully appreciated.
