SASS, Metro J. - a long time resident of Chatham, died on Sunday, February 10, 2008 in his 94th year. He was active as a businessman (Sass Manufacturing Ltd.) and in civic affairs, as Mayor (1964) alderman and on various city boards and committees. He was predeceased by his first wife Margaret (Haines) in 1988. He is survived by his wife Florence (Baker), four daughters Janet Sass Bernreuter of Chatham Kent; Mary Jean Kushner of Charlotte, North Carolina; Gloria White of Leamington and Patricia (Tish) of Espanola. Three sons John of Port Huron, Michigan; Robert of Elkin, North Carolina and David of Warwick, Rhode Island. Ten grandchildren six great grandchildren and a sister Willimena (Nunni) Zubkavich of Oshawa. Friends will be received at the BOWMAN FUNERAL HOME, 4 Victoria Avenue, Chatham (519- 352-2390) for visitation on Tuesday, February 12, from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A private family funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 13, 2008. Interment at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham. The family wishes to thank the staff at Copper Terrace for the special care and kindness shown to him during his stay there.
