BRIGGS, Olive - At the Parisien Manor on Wednesday, January 16, 2008. Olive May (Farr) Briggs of 439 Second Street East; formerly of Toronto, Moncton, NB and Witley, Surrey, England; age 87 years. Beloved wife of the late Frank Albert Briggs. Dear mother of Donald Briggs of Toronto and Carolyn Ruda (Gordon) of Cornwall. Loving Nanny of April Thomson (Shawn), Sheri-Anne Giggey (Dave Prevost) and Robert Giggey (Veronica) all of Ottawa and Nanny-Nanny to Cyndel, Brontë, Sebastian, Zachary, Max, Noah, Alejandro and Molly. Dear daughter of the late James Farr and the late Isobel (Buss) Farr. Predeceased by one brother, Fredrick Farr. Olive was a war bride who landed at Pier 21 in Halifax on July 4, 1946. During the Second World War, while still living in England, she helped to manufacture parachutes, rubber dinghy's and was a member of the Civilian Nursing Reserves. Olive was a tireless worker for both St. Cyprians and Apostles Anglican churches when living in Toronto. She was one of the founding members of St. Cyprians and was a lifetime member of the Anglican Church Women, British and Canadian Red Cross Society and the Canadian Cancer Society. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Parisien Manor in Cornwall for the terrific care that was given to our Mother and Grandmother. Resting at Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Homes, West Branch, 20 Seventh Street West (613-932- 8482) from 10 a.m. Saturday. Funeral Saturday, January 19, 2008 for Service in the Memorial Chapel of the Funeral Home Church at 11 a.m. followed by cremation. Interment, York Cemetery, Toronto, ON . The family will be in attendance from 10 a.m. Saturday.
