Ivy Collingwood Cooper (née Richardson) March 15, 1914 - May 07, 2004 Ivy passed away Friday May 7th, at Versa Care. She was born in Newcastle, England March 15th, 1914 and immigrated to Canada in l928. She attended F.W.C.I. and North Bay Normal School. Ivy taught in South Gillies and Morson, Ontario. On April 17th, 1941 Ivy married Francis (Scotty) Cooper and raised their family in Current River. She was a longtime member and Elder at Calvin Presbyterian Church in Current River. Ivy was a member and served as Leader and Commissioner for Girl Guides of Canada and in the year 2000 received an award for 50 years of Long Service. She was a lifetime member of the Ontario Council as well as a member of the Trefoil Guild. Ivy was a longtime resident on Surrey Street. Her home and neighbourhood were important to her and she was able to live independently for a long time. Her family appreciates the many helping hands that were extended to Ivy by the people in her community. She spent her time enjoying summers with friends and family at Warnica Lake, knitting, being involved with the church gatherings, choirs and just keeping life simple by taking time to have a cup of tea. Ivy will be remembered for her playful spirit and her zest for life. She was caring and devoted to her family and truly loved spending time with others. She is survived by her son Alec of Stratford, Ontario; daughter Ellen (Bruce) Hole of Thunder Bay; grandson David (Laurie), great grandson Sean, grandson Scott (Judy), great grandson Jerimiah, grandson Rob (Jennifer), and great granddaughter Aidan. Predeceased by her husband Scotty, parents William and Ellen, her brothers Jack and William and sister Betsy (Bessie) Evans. Memorial services will be held on Monday May 10th, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in Calvin Presbyterian Church, Surrey Street. JENKENS FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & RECEPTION CENTRE
