MARCONI, Benito - Suddenly on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at St. Catharines General Hospital at 71 years of age. Beloved husband of Giovanna for 49 years, loving father of Egidio (Pina), Pete (Linda), Robert (Laura), dear Nonno of Christopher, Alexander, Alicia, Julia, Lucas and Erica, brother of Pasqualina (the late Giovanni) Bianconi, Lilia (Joe) Passero, Desma (Primo) Canzonetta of Italy, the late Damia and Giulio Pecci, brother-in-law of Rosana (Joe) DeMeo, Gina Caldarelli of Italy. Will be remembered by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Marconi was a member of St. Alfred's Church, St. Alfred's Seniors and a founding member of Club Roma for over 45 years. He worked in the home plastering trade for over 35 years. He was an avid outdoor sportsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and gardening. Benito was always there supporting his grandchildren in their sporting activities. Mr. Marconi is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St. until Monday at 9 a.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Alfred's Church at 9:30 a.m. with Rite of Committal in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Visiting hours Saturday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. and Sunday 2 - 4 and 6:30 - 9 p.m. Vigil Prayers for Mr. Marconi will be celebrated in the funeral home on Sunday at 7 p.m. Memorial Remembrances can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
