Roy McPherson August 14, 1918 - March 13, 2004 McPHERSON, Roy - 85, Halifax, formerly of Cape Breton, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 13, 2004, surrounded by his loving family in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII. Born August 14, 1918, in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late Dan and Isobel (Anderson) McPherson. Roy served his country overseas during the Second World War with the Signal Corps. He was chief engineer of CJCB-TV in Sydney and was an employee with them for 25 years. Dad was a long-time Amateur Radio Operator (VEIPS), having talked to friends all over the world through HAM radio and was an active member of the Sydney Amateur Radio Club for many years. He was a gadget man who spent hours building and tinkering with his radio gear. He loved going to a good HAM radio flea market. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Sydney. He was a devoted husband, and a devoted father and grandfather, and friend to Lorraine (Dr. Arthur MacLean), Beryl, all of New Glasgow; Beverley (Mrs. Gordon Laurence), Margaree Harbour; Dr. Troye McPherson (Mrs. Patrick Kyte), Dartmouth; Cindy, Antigonish; grandchildren, Holly (Mrs. David Sommerfreund), Christopher (Jen), all of Australia; James Roy, Korea; Emily, New Glasgow; Nathan, Yellowknife, N.W.T.; Andrew and Courtney, Margaree Harbour; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Rachel McPherson; brothers, James Allistair. Dad was a kind, compassionate, giving person. He is loved and adored by his family and is deeply, deeply missed. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Interment will be held at a later date in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. If so desired, a donation in Roy's memory to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, 5954 Spring Garden Rd., Halifax, NS B3H 1Y7 would be appreciated.
