CARELLA, Agnes “Ann“ (D'Ammizio) - Peacefully, on Wednesday, February 20th, 2008 at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Frank J. Carella (1985). Daughter of the late Pasquale and Clemetine D'Ammizio (Spina). Loving mother of Antoinette and husband Robert Nelson of Thompson, Connecticut, Joseph P.Carella and wife Betty of Thorold and Frank B. Carella and wife Valerie of Merritton. Dear grandmother of Teresa A. Rheaume (Nelson) and husband Kevin, Robert G. Nelson Jr., Christopher J. Carella and wife Rene, Tara Carella, Matthew Carella and great grandmother of Monica, Madeline and Anthony Rheaume and Alexander Nicholas and William Lucas Carella. Ann is survived by three sisters Sadie Grifa, Elizabeth Hamilton, Carmel Lalonde, and predeceased by two sisters Mary Iannelli and Jennie Badowski. Ann will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. She was an active member of Holy Rosary Church and was a member of the Catholic Women's League for over 70 years. She contributed generously to fund raising, hand knitting & crocheting afghans and articles of warmth. Her earlier years were filled with catering to weddings, dinners and many fundraisers. She gave of herself endlessly and loved all of her charitable efforts. She was appreciative of the arts and enjoyed plays, concerts, and various travel adventures both here and away. Ann was an honourary member of the Scarlet Sirens Chapter of the Red Hat Society in Thompson, Connecticut, where she visited annually at the home of her daughter and helped in the kitchen at St. Joseph's Church in Thompson. A person full of humility and compassion, and generous to everyone who crossed her path, whether it to be to bake, baby sit, clean, sew, plant a garden or even stack firewood. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She will be forever missed. Farewell Ann, you have reached your highest glory in the arms of our Saviour. The family will receive friends at the HAMMOND FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Vigil Prayers will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 8:00 pm. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church (21 Queen St. S., Thorold) on Saturday, February 23rd at 11:00am with Father Donald Lizzotti officiating. Rite of Committal at Lakeview Cemetery, Thorold. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. 10996756
