Brown: Muriel Helen (nee Graves) 1909 - 2004 Muriel Helen (nee Graves) passed away peacefully at the Lodge at Broadmead on March 10, 2004 at the age of 94. Muriel was born in Calgary, Alberta on September 24, 1909 by English parents, William and Helen Graves. She achieved a Gold Medal in Nursing (1928 - 1931), then worked as a head nurse in Drumheller from 1931 - 1941. Here she met and married Duncan Alexander Brown. She is predeceased by her husband (Dunnie), survived by her sons Sandy and Duncan, daughters Catherine and Elizabeth, 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Raising their children in Drumheller for 40 years, Dunnie and Muriel moved to Victoria 30 years ago achieving their dream of living by the seaside. Muriel was an extremely loving, giving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend to oh so many. Her home was a gathering place. She made life fun with wit, joy and humour. Her creative abilities in playing piano, writing music, needle work, drawing and painting brought joy to the beholder. A special celebration of Muriel s life will take place on Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at 2 p.m. at First Memorial Funeral Chapel located at 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria. In lieu of flowers, a donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated (Parkinson s Society)
