Ray Allan SNYDER

Snyder: Ray Allan 1937 - 2004 Ray Allan Snyder, aged 67 years, passed away in Drumheller, AB on May 3, 2004. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan; daughter Shawna (Carl) Van Horne of Terrace, B.C.; son Lorne (Sherry) Snyder of Medicine Hat, AB; and four grandsons Marshall and Gregory Van Horne, and Cole and Hunter Snyder; sister Marion McMichael; brother Dale (Sandra) Snyder of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Noreen in 1971, mother Veril in 1983, father Lester in 1996, and brother Miles in 2001. Born in Bassano, AB on April 1, 1937 and receiving education in Calgary and subsequently graduating from Montana State University with a Bachelor Degree of Science in Agriculture in 1960. Ray resided, farmed and ranched in the Wintering Hills for the next 44 years while contributing significantly to community activities and various organizations. Ray was past Chairman of the Drumheller Local Agricultural Manpower Board, past President of the Drumheller District Agriculture Society, member of the Drumheller Exhibition and Stampede Board, past President of the Wintering Hills Gas Co-op, past President of the Dalum Gas Co-op, many years leader of Dalum 4-H Beef Club, past Master and life member of Hussar Lodge #130 A.F. and A.M., past District Deputy Grand Master A.F. and A.M., past patron Hussar Chapter #92 Order of the Eastern Star, and retired director of 27 years Alberta Power/ATCO Electric. Ray was an extremely social individual and associations with individuals from these organizations and his family and many friends meant the world to him. The family extends special thanks to Ray's caregiver, Bill Christensen of Drumheller, and Dr. E. Racz and the many individuals working in the various departments of the Drumheller Health Centre for their exceptional care given to Ray during his courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Funeral services will be held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Dalum, Dalum, AB on Friday, May 7, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Dan Hendrickson officiating. Gathering to follow the service at Dalum Community Hall.
