MacCALLUM, Hartley Eugene MacCALLUM, Hartley Eugene - 96, North River, passed away peacefully Friday, March 28, 2008, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born May 18, 1911, in MacCallum Settlement, he was a son of the late Irving and Lillian (Johnson) MacCallum. Hartley attended North River United Church and was a former woodsman, heavy machine mechanic with the CNR, and later with Jack MacMillan with farm machinery. Hartley is survived by his daughter, Marion (Frank) Tucker, North River; sister, Faye MacKay, Truro; grandchildren, Melanie (Terry) McNutt and Philip (Debbie) Tucker; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Michael and Colton McNutt, Chad and Dylan Tucker. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Beth (MacRae); sisters, Edith, Violet, and Lillian; brothers, Lorne, Victor, Foster, Herman, and Carman. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro, where Hartley's family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today and funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Rev. David Lutes officiating. Reception to follow in the funeral home. Spring interment in North River United Church Cemetery. Family flowers only.
