MacDONNELL, Paul Anthony MacDONNELL, Paul Anthony - 80, Antigonish, formerly of St. Peter's, Richmond Co., passed away March 28, 2008, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital. A graduate of Provincial Normal College, Truro (1947), he then continued his education at Ryerson University, Toronto, where he completed training as a public health inspector. He was then employed by the Nova Scotia Department of Health for more than 30 years in St. Peter's and Antigonish, retiring in 1992. A family man of strong faith, he was born on November 4, 1927, in Glace Bay, the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Gillis) MacDonnell. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ramona (Landry); his children and grandchildren, Paulette (Wayne) Manuel, Halifax, (Emily and Matthew); Maureen (Brian) MacIntyre, Dartmouth, (Ian and Neil); Gregory (Sheila), Cole Harbour, (Andrew, Mallory and Laura); Tony (Catholic Missionary), Bethesda, Md.; Lisa (John) Dobson, Antigonish, (Edmund, John Paul, Kate and Bruce); Lorianne (Catholic Missionary), Antigonish; Maria (Chris) MacDonald, Bedford, (Jack and Julia); Clare (Brian) Lazzuri, Ashdale, (Grace, Joseph and Mary Rose). He is also survived by sisters, Beatrice Warcop, Reserve Mines; Patricia (Murray) White, Glace Bay; brothers, John A., Glace Bay; Ben, Ottawa, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by infant sons, Joseph and Francis; siblings, Johnny, Mary, Colin, Florence, Annie, Rose, Joseph, Pauline, Theresa May and Gus. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, College Street, Antigonish. Funeral mass will be held in St. Ninian Cathedral on Monday, March 31, at 11 a.m., Rev. Andrew Gillies presiding. Burial will occur in St. Ninian Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only please.
