WHALEN, Nema Mae WHALEN, Nema Mae - 81, Dartmouth, loving wife of the late Edgar J. Whalen, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2008, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in East Dover, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Annie (Foote) Zinck. In her younger years, Nema worked at Moirs Chocolates. She then worked at Simpsons for many years in the SouWester Restaurant. Nema then was employed at The Bay in the West End Mall, from where she retired early to diligently and patiently care for her husband, Edgar. She was a faithful member of Sheffield Baptist Church. Surviving are her devoted sons, Gilbert, Dartmouth, and Ken (Susan), Halifax; her treasured grandsons, Ben and Brad Whalen, as well as many brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Edgar, in December 2005; her parents, and several brothers and sisters. Resting in J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd., 149 Herring Cove Road, Spryfield (477-5601), where visitation will be held on Monday from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 1, at 1:30 p.m. in Sheffield Baptist Church, 80 Lincoln Cross, Halifax. Interment will take place in East Dover Cemetery. The family would appreciate flowers or a donation in memory of Nema to Full Gospel Church (Building Fund) or Sheffield Baptist Church.
