LAPORTE, Eldon James 2008-04-04 Mr. Eldon James Laporte, 70 years, of Nipigon, Ontario passed away peacefully on April 3, 2008, in the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital, with his loving family by his side. Predeceased by his father Valmore Laporte and by a brother Frank; he is survived by his wife Margaret (nee Trottier) of Nipigon, by three daughters – Darlene (& Walter) Piovesan of Ottawa, Debbie (& Brian) Ulasy of Winnipeg, and Kathy (& Allen) Koistinen of Nipigon, by five grandchildren – Taylor, Samantha, Chloe, Bryson and Brooke, by his mother Lyda Trudeau of Embrum, Ontario, by a sister Velma (& Gaston) Clement of Vars, Ontario. He will be dearly missed by his sister-in-law Frances Luce of Nipigon and her children, Judy, Bryan, Lynn, and Wayne, by his brother-in-law Gene Trottier and his children, Tanya and Tracy. Also dear to his heart was his life long friend Sylvester Ray and close family friend Barry Ziegler. Eldon worked on various construction jobs as a hoisting engineer and became employed with Domtar Packaging in Red Rock as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #32, Nipigon. Eldon was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a great storyteller. He truly enjoyed the outdoors including many days at Cedar Mountain. Eldon loved his family pets, including his buddy Bengi. According to Eldon‘s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Eldon‘s life, in the care of Elliott Funeral Home Ltd., Nipigon will be held on Monday, April 7, 2008 at 11 A.M. at the Church of the Annunciation, Nipigon with Father M. McWatch officiating. Interment of cremains will be in Cliffside Cemetery, Nipigon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital Nurses‘ Education Fund, c/o Nipigon District Memorial Hospital, Nipigon, Ontario, P0T 2J0.
