John Alexander MacLeod 1943-2008 John Alexander MacLeod, 64 of Guelph, Ontario; and formerly of Moncton, N.B., passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital in Guelph, Ontario on Wednesday, April 16th, 2008, after a courageous battle with prostate cancer. John was the son of Albert MacLeod (deceased 1961) and Alberta (Bertie) Ross of Moncton. He will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his soul mate and wife, Heather Widmeyer, Guelph, Ontario; his mother Alberta Ross, Moncton; sister, Carolyn Beers, Moncton, N.B.; brother William MacLeod, Morgan Hill, California; son Scott MacLeod and wife Kathy of Halifax, N.S.; daughter Jill MacLeod and partner Brian Kure of Spruceview, Alberta; grandchildren Lindsay and Scott Ureczky of Red Deer, Alberta; and great-grandaughter Jayda Ureczky. John was a graduate of Moncton High School class of 1961, an avid horseman and belonged to various harness racing associations. John was the founder of MacLeod Equine Health Services Ltd., which was a business endeavour in which he could dedicate his work to his life-long passion for horses. He and his partner, Dr. Gordon Chang, developed a leading line of equine herbal products for horses - Omega Alpha. Beyond his love for horses, John had a genuine caring interest in people and in tune to their feelings. He was always non-judgmental and inspired people to feel good about themselves. He was able to bring out the positive qualities of those he touched. A Memorial Service in John's memory will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's United Church, 75 Alma Street, Moncton, N.B. with Reverend Aaron Billard officiating. In John's memory, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Prostate Cancer Research. April 19, 2008
