MCGEOUGH, Florence Early in the morning on September 2nd, 2004, she died unexpectedly at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, P.E.I. Daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Shelfoon of Charlottetown, P.E.I. Beloved wife of the late Leonard James McGeough, fond mother to Carol, loving nanny to grandchildren Kimberley Felker and Derek Henderson, and great-nanny to Alexandra Felker and to Thomas and Matthew Henderson. She also had several exceptional nieces and nephews; predeceased by son Miles and numerous siblings. As a young woman she worked in Halifax, Nova Scotia as a decoder of the German signals during the Second World War. Throughout her life she had an enthusiastic love for dancing and an endearing interest for cooking and baking; in 1983 she was nicknamed "The Cooker" by her then 10 year old granddaughter. In 1962, she and Leonard took ownership of 7 Ebb Tide cottages and rented them out to avid P.E.I. vacationers for nearly 20 years. She and Leonard summered in Stanhope, P.E.I. for over 50 years; she enjoyed gardening at the cottage and also took great pleasure in visiting the beach to go swimming in the ocean water that was "just like milk". Our family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Dawn Shea of Morell, P.E.I. and to the medical staff for there support and compassion they offered to us during this troubled time. We are all saddened by the sudden loss of Florence; to friends in Windsor and to her family and longtime friends whom she knew in PEI. - let us remember her for her tenacious personality and for the 60 years of marriage, love anddevotion she proudly gave to Leonard James. Her ashes will be brought to Windsor, and family and friends will be contacted for a service in the fall. Memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society and/or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be most appreciated. Published in the Windsor Star on 9/8/2004.
