McILVEEN, GLORIA- The passing of Gloria (Goudreau) McIlveen, of Fredericton, NB, wife of Bruce McIlveen, occurred peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 20, 2008. Born in Campbellton, NB, on September 2, 1949 she was a daughter of the late Guy and Daisy Goudreau. Gloria stayed at home to raise her two sons and later returned to pursue a degree in Gerontology at St. Thomas University once the boys were in their last years of High School. Volunteering for the Alzheimer Society of Fredericton lead Gloria to a fulfilling career as the Executive Director of the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick. Gloria's energy knew no bounds as she pursued to promote awareness and compassion for people afflicted by the disease as well as their caregivers. She will be greatly missed by the hundreds of people she helped. In addition to her husband, Gloria is survived by two sons, Jeffery McIlveen of Fredericton, NB and Charles McIlveen (Tammy Wu) of Fredericton, NB; six sisters, Charlene Luduc of Montreal, PQ, Caroline Goudreau of Vancouver, BC, Roseline Goudreau of Mexico, Diane (Claude) Mercier of Montreal, PQ, Louise (Arnie) Doherty of Saint John, NB and Carmen (Don) Robinson of Fredericton, NB; eight brothers, Gerald Goudreau, Richard (Mary) Goudreau, Phillip (Debbie) Goudreau, Ronnie Goudreau, Raymond (Patty) Goudreau all of Moncton, NB, Ernie (Linda) Goudreau of Campbellton, NB, Paul (Mary) Goudreau of Nanaimo BC and Mark Goudreau of British Columbia; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel at 11am with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to her legacy, the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick would be appreciated by the family.
