SCHUNTER, Lillian Ruth September 12, 2004. Mrs. Ruth Schunter, age 87 of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Sunday morning in Grandview Heights Nursing Home. Ruth was born on July 15, 1917 in Detroit, Michigan, a daughter of the late Stanley Harold and Ida (Diefenbeck) Hall. On September 4, 1948, she was united in marriage with Willy George Schunter in the Grace United Church of Christ in Grosse Pointe Park. Mr. Schunter passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 1994 in Clinton Township. Ruth had lived in Detroit, moved to Clinton Township in 1988, and had lived at her present address for the past seven years. Ruth graduated in January 1935 from Detroit Cass Technical High School. She was a former member of Grace United Church of Christ, Faith-Trinity United Church of Christ in Warren, and Peace United Church of Christ in Detroit. Ruth was the organist at Grace UCC and Peace UCC, and was the organizer of the Ruth Circle, sang in the choir, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, and active in the Detroit Metropolitan Women's Association while a member at Peace UCC. She had worked for the J.L. Hudson Company in Detroit and as a teacher's aide in the Detroit Public Schools. Mrs. Schunter is survived by her daughter, the Reverend Carolyn Schunter of Waterford, Michigan. Ruth was predeceased by a brother Edward Beech Hall and Ivy Chatcherty. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 11 am. in Hope United Church of Christ of Fraser, 32500 Utica Road (south of 14 Mile Road), Fraser with the Reverend Ralph Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery in Clinton Township. Mrs. Schunter will rest in the Will and Schwarzkoff Funeral Home, 233 Northbound Gratiot Avenue, Mount Clemens on Friday from 2 pm. until 8:30pm. and on Saturday in the Church from 10am. until the time of Service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Detroit Metropolitan Association of United Church of Church. Published in the Windsor Star on 9/15/2004.
