WEST, Alvin John -Died peacefully at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre February 26, 2004 at 72 years age after a valiant battle with cancer. Loving husband of Lois Louise West (nee Fettes) in their 50 years of marriage. Predeceased by his parents, William and Sarah, and by his brothers, Keith and Marvin. Survived by his sons Richard (Valerie), Steven (Diane), Michael (Christine), and daughter Sandra (Grant Seeney). Sadly missed by his six grandchildren, Victoria, Christopher, Brandi, Sarah, Mitchell, and Jake. Alvin was an employee with Goodfellow & Dougherty Plumbing and Heating Ltd for 47 years. Alvin's first job in Peterborough was the construction of the Grandstands at Morrow Park. Since then he had worked on numerous projects, both large and small, in Peterborough and the surrounding area. He was a member of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, Local 463. Alvin was Cub master, hockey coach, member of St. Andrews' United Church and long time, devoted fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Friends and family will be received at Comstock Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 356 Rubidge St., Peterborough on Sunday, February 29, 2004 at 2:00pm until 4:00pm and 7:00pm until 9:00pm. Funeral service will be held at the Chapel on Monday, March 1, 2004 at 1:00pm. Officiating will be the Reverend Ann Foster. In lieu of flowers, if desired, donations to the Cancer Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family. 2/28/2004- ID3512838 - Peterborough Examiner
